Talkshow NOS Studio Wintersport 2018

In a live primetime talkshow Studio Wintersport 2018 summarized the NOS the Olympic day. The Dutch host Henry Schut conducted the live broadcast from an armchair, while the sidekick Erben Wennemars and the quests were seated on couches.

‘A warm and a cozy lounge set was the starting point in the set design’

A starting point in the set design was to develop a cozy and cool lounge set. In the main lines consisted the lounge set of a black sidetable, a custom-made grey armchair for the host and 2 grey sofas for the guests placed on a raised floor. Besides the presentation set the talkshow featured a lounge bar and a selected groep of fans seated in an audience. I linked the set with the Olympics Rings by covering the cushions with primary colored. I took also into account in our design the guidelines of the NOS by furnishing the chair and sofa’s with gray fabric. The use of natural and modern materials such as oak wood, black plexiglass, printed backdrops, black painted iron, grey wool resulted in a balanced look & feel.

Digital artwork
In addition to the set pieces, I developed and digitally edited the special artwork for the backdrops and video content. The theme of the artwork was an abstract golden mountain landscape, blue sky on top. The appearance of customized artwork distinguished from the standard textures due to its authenticity and originality.

Video LED 
FABER supplied the Video LED for the horizontally arranged screens which were integrated into the side walls of the decor.

Set building
Unbranded Experience took care of the technical support and provided the set including the props. All the set props like the furniture, draperies and decoration were part of the set design. In addition, their construction team was commissioned to assemble the set on location in Pyeongchang.

Set lighting
Yellowspot provided the RGB LED lighting for the set. The application of this was decorative and indirect. The lighting designer Bas de Vries of Light-H-Art took care of the lighting plan and the showlighting.
