Symphonica in Rosso met Marco Borsato 2015
CLOSEI feel very grateful to have had an opportunity to create a concert stage for a big venue such as the Symphonica in Rosso met Marco Borsato. The Symphonica In Rosso concerts are well known for its live acts, lighting rigs, massive stages and theatrical shows. The edition in 2015 and 2016 were marked by his 25th anniversary as performing artist, which made the concerts extra special. At his request, the concerts were no longer organized in the Gelredome stadium Arnhem, but in the concert hall Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam. Just like the previous editions the concerts were accompanied by Guido’s Orchestra. In totally, the 12 compleet sold out editions with Marco Borsato drew about 180,000 enthusiastic visitors.
‘A great success thanks to the well thought-out stage design but also due to the good teamwork’
Stage design
The stage design involved among other things a compact concert stage for the artists, the band, the conductor and the symphonic orchestra. The most challenging part of the design for live acts was developing a stage that both aided artists in their performing acts and interaction with the audience. When performing on stage, interacting with the audience is a must. All Marco’s concerts are a good example of this. He constantly talks to the crowd and physically moves to the front by using every inch of the stage. These variable acoustical conditions and the sight lines must be taken into close consideration in the stage design. That is why, for example, the catwalk and all the stage elements such as the orchestra lodges, were developed in close collaboration with the set designer, the sound technician, the lighting designer and the show director.
Venetian curtain
For the background across the entire width I developed a massive red Venetian curtain of 66 meters wide and 15 meters high. The massive Venetian canvas was made of StretchVelours by the ShowTex.
LED Solutions
FABER delivered the video LED modules for the 7 portray banners at the central stage and the interactive catwalk. They also decorated the orchestra lodges and the balcony around in the concert hall with video LED.
Stage Building
Stage Brothers build the stage and the orchestra lodges in co-operation with the StageCo Nederland.
Technical Production
Mundomatic translated my creative ideas into workable, technical and practical solutions.
