Liveshow NOS|NOC*NSF SPORTGALA 2016
CLOSE
Although working in the entertainment industry for more than 20 years, I still find the live broadcasts the most challenging projects in the field of set design. A good example of this are the live television broadcasts such as the liveshow NOS|NOC*NSF SPORTGALA 2016 in which the best Dutch athletes were honored with annually awards.
‘It made me feel proud, when I saw the best athletes receiving their awards on my stage in the live show.’
The set design
The starting point in the set design was to develop a sustainable set for next four editions. The aim was also to create more flexibility and space on stage and on backstage. Not only by having everything built on one level but also by making the segments on stage more mobile. According to the briefing, the set should also be more accessible to the paralympic athletes. I fulfilled this wish by integrating ramps both to the leftside and to the rightside of the eye-catching stairway.
Suppliers of the set
NOS had approached FABER for the various audiovisual solutions such as the LED modules for the floor, the video screens and the panoramic curtain. For example the GLUX BAtn10C Carbon module which was used for the panoramic curtain because of its transparency and lightness. The stage transformed into a grand gala set thanks to the transparency of the LED modules in combination with the red curtains and the show lighting. NOS had rented the massive Venetian curtain which was manufactured by ShowTex. StageBrothers realized the set-up including the assembly. PIVOT created the motion design.
Set lighting
Yellowspot provided the RGB LED lighting for the stairway. The application of this was decorative and indirect. The lighting designer Bas de Vries of Light-H-Art took care of the lighting plan and the show lighting.
