5 jaar Ziggo Dome met Borsato & Friends
CLOSEI was commissioned by Mojo Concerts to create a stage design for the 5 jaar Ziggo Dome met Borsato & Friends live concerts. To celebrate its 5-year anniversary Ziggo Dome organized two concerts on 23 and 24 June 2017 in Amsterdam. Ziggo Dome wanted him to share with the audience something authentic rather than something put on. This resulted in concerts, which where not only in artistic sense strong but also unique.
‘The artistic approach made the stage design extremely personalized and unique.’
Assignment for the stage design
The stage design consisted of 2 parts; a center stage backdrop and a catwalk in the shape of a musical note ( the official logo Borsato) at the front. The catwalk was built so that the performing artists could get closer to the audience. The most striking element in the stage design was the backdrop with the unique pattern inspired by the aperture openings of a camera lens. Marco Borsato loves to contact his fans through his music but also through the lens as a photographer.
Laser Cut backdrop
Showtex is a specialist in theater fabrics. They provided the extra large laser cut backdrop. At first they printed the vectorial pattern design on an impermeable laser cut fabric. After this, they carefully applied the cut pieces to a black gobelintule cloth. The QBE installed the canvas and the scaffold construction in co-operation with StageCo Nederland.
Show lighting
Carlo Zaenen – lighting designer from QBE created the lighting plan and delivered a breathtaking show lighting. A part of the showlights were attached to the 15-meter high and 33-meter-wide scaffold construction. The white blackout fabric was not translucent which made possible for Carlo to licht the canvas with the backlights in combination with the front projection. Instead of a flat, restricted backdrop there was now a spacious effect that created an impression of indeterminate distance.
